PROCESS APPLICATION

Gas Filling & Recovery

Move gas from bulk tank into cylinders.

WHAT IT IS

What is Gas Filling & Recovery?

01

Gas filling transfers gas from a large bulk source into cylinders at target pressure. Recovery pulls gas back from cylinders or systems for reuse or disposal. Used for O₂, N₂, CO₂, Ar, H₂ and fire suppression agents.

02

Filling stations must control pressure precisely and weigh to verify fill quantity. Recovery prevents gas waste and environmental release. Both are regulated for compressed gas safety.

03

Key terms: filling pressure (target cylinder pressure), recovery rate (gas reclaimed per cycle), vacuum pre-fill (removing air before filling to ensure purity).

WHY PRESSURE EQUIPMENT

Manual vs Electric vs Air-Driven

Drive methods differ sharply in pressure limit, explosion safety, and automation.

Drive MethodPressure LimitExplosion-ProofFeatures
Manual pump~100 MPa✓ (no electricity)Cheap / labor-intensive / no automation
Electric pump~300 MPaNeeds Ex motorAutomated / needs power / heat
Air-driven pump~600 MPa [TBC]✓ (pneumatic)Safe / auto hold / no power

For gas filling, air-driven boosters = precise pressure + no spark + reliable.
