Why Inlet Pressure Matters
A gas booster pump uses a low-pressure drive gas to compress a higher-pressure process gas. The boost ratio — output pressure divided by drive pressure — is fixed by the pump's internal piston area ratio. But the actual output also depends on the inlet pressure of the process gas.
If the inlet pressure is too low, the pump cannot reach the target output. If it's too high, the pump may cycle too fast or exceed pressure ratings. Getting the inlet pressure right is step one.

- Standard single-stage: 2–10 bar inlet, up to 80 MPa output
- DGT two-stage: 0.5–10 bar inlet, up to 800 bar output
- Always check the spec sheet for the exact range of each model
Selection Steps
- 1. Determine your available inlet pressure (gas source pressure)
- 2. Determine your required output pressure
- 3. Calculate the required boost ratio
- 4. Select a model whose rated boost ratio meets or exceeds that ratio
- 5. Verify the inlet pressure is within the model's rated range
